Nissan to Offer Leaf Buyers Free Battery Charging
Nissan Motor Co. is preparing to introduce a new program in July that will give some of its U.S. customers to buy or lease a Leaf electric car free public charging for two years.

Nissan Motor Co. is preparing to introduce a new program in July that will give some of its U.S. customers to buy or lease a Leaf electric car free public charging for two years.
The "No Charge to Charge" program initially will apply to customers who acquired their EVs on or after April 1 in 10 metro markets: Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Nashville, Phoenix, Portland, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington, D.C.
Eligible customers will be issued an EZ-Charge card, which will give them all-access to free charging at AeroVironment, Blink, ChargePoint and eVgo networks. The program will be managed by Houston, Tex.-based NRG Energy Inc., which also operates the eVgo system.
Last year Nissan more than doubled its Leaf sales in the U.S. to nearly 23,000 units. Sales in the first quarter of 2014 were nearly 50% higher than the same period last year.
