Nissan Motor Co. plans to open an auto assembly plant in Ghana by 2022 with capacity to make as many as 60,000 vehicles per year, according to The Nikkei.

The plant, whose cost reportedly hasn’t yet been determined, will join the $160 million factory in Algeria that Nissan announced in February. That facility will have the ability to assemble more than 63,000 cars and light commercial vehicles annually. Nissan hasn’t said where the Algerian plant will be located or when it will begin operations.
Nissan already operates assembly plants in Egypt, Nigeria and South Africa. The Algeria and Ghana facilities would raise the company’s capacity in Africa to about 260,000 vehicles.
