The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is organizing an informal meeting in Washington on May 18 to discuss the safety of automotive lithium-ion batteries.
NHTSA says the symposium at the Dept. of Transportation will include a presentation about the agency's current research on lithium-ion batteries and EVs, plus reports from the U.S. Dept. of Energy, representatives of vehicle and battery manufacturers and groups that are setting voluntary standards.
The main purpose of the meeting will be to help the NHTSA focus its safety research and development about EV safety, according to the agency.
