NextEV Inc. has opened its new U.S. headquarters and software development center in San Jose, Calif. The facility will house about 400 employees.
The company was launched in 2014 by Chinese billionaire William Li. It hopes to introduce an electric supercar by about the end of this year and follow up with a range of models at various performance and price points.
NextEV is developing the supercar in Munich and reportedly plans to produce it in the U.K. The company’s co-president is Martin Leach, a former CEO of Maserati and president of Ford of Europe. The company’s U.S. unit is headed by Padmasree Warrior, who also serves as NextEV’s chief development officer.
