Trade ministers meeting in the U.S. are close to an agreement on the free-trade Trans-Pacific Partnership pact, according to multiple media reports.
The 12-nation Pacific Rim agreement, which has been in negotiations for seven years, hinges on the resolution of one remaining issue: milk-based products. Delegates say it will be mainly up to the U.S. to break the impasse.
In July the delegates resolved debate during a meeting in Hawaii over vehicle tariffs, e-commerce, trademarks and environmental questions.
The TPP member countries are Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, the U.S. and Vietnam.
