Porsche AG says about half the vehicles it sells by 2025 will be equipped with hybrid or all-electric powertrains, twice the ratio it forecast four weeks ago.

Detlev von Platen, the company’s sales chief, tells Bloomberg News, says the more bullish target reflects the brand’s expanding lineup of electrified models. He also notes that pro-EV policies in China, already the world’s largest market for such vehicles, is shaping the industry.

“The train for electric mobility,” declares von Platen, “has well and truly left the station.” He notes that 60% of those who buy the company’s $90,000 Panamera (pictured above) are choosing the four-door coupe’s optional $10,000 hybrid system.
