Mitsubishi Corp. and affiliate Mitsubishi Motors Corp. have made an unspecified investment in Go-Jek, an Indonesia-based mobility platform.

The Japanese companies plan to leverage the Go-Jek platform for various services and to study other potential joint projects.

Formed in 2010, Go-Jek provides a smartphone app that can be used to coordinate ride-sharing and ride-hailing services for motorcycles and cars. Users also can use the platform to make payments and order deliveries of food and other items.

Last year, Go-Jek began expanding to the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. The company competes against Singapore-based GrabTaxi Holdings Pte. Ltd.
