The head of Daimler AG’s Mercedes-Benz Cars in the U.S. says the American unit hasn’t yet decided whether to continue offering diesel-powered vehicles.

Dietmar Exler tells reporters at the New York auto show that Mercedes has not yet been approved by the Environmental Protection Agency to sell its 2017 models. The agency said 20 months ago that it would review certifications for all diesels after Volkswagen AG admitted it used software to cheat on emission tests.

VW has since announced it will stop offering diesels in the U.S., where such engines account for no more than 3% of Mercedes sales.

Exler says Daimler intends to introduce at least seven electrified Mercedes models in the American market by 2025. He adds that hybrids and all-electrics will be the company’s “big focus” in the years ahead.
