Future cars offers by Fiat Chrysler Automobile NV’s Maserati unit will control their autonomous driving capabilities with technologies developed by BMW AG.
The technology is being created by a coalition launched in 2016 by BMW and Israel’s Mobileye NV, which is now a part of Intel Corp. The group’s aim is to develop open standards for control systems used by self-driving vehicles.
FCA joined the alliance in 2017. Chairman John Elkann tell a conference in Italy that Maserati will use technology developed by the group for semi-automated driving on highways.
Elkhann didn’t say when Maserati will debut the technology. But the coalition said last year it aims to deliver a fully developed autonomous driving system by 2021.
