Toyota Motor Corp.'s Lexus luxury unit is testing a scheme in the U.S. that offers customers no-haggle prices on its vehicles.
Jeff Bracken, U.S. general sales manager of the brand, tells attendees at this week's Management Briefing Seminars in Traverse City, Mich., that Lexus is trying out the idea at a dozen of its 236 dealers in the U.S.
Set-price selling isn't a new idea. The most notable use of the approach was General Motors Co.'s now-defunct Saturn brand. Automotive News notes that other carmakers use the technique now on select models.
Bracken tells the MBS conference that haggle-free pricing will "elevate transaction transparency and customer care" for Lexus.
