Interiors giant Lear Corp. has acquired Arada Systems, a Troy, Mich.-based company that provides vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communication systems. Financial terms weren’t disclosed.
Lear says Arada’s software and hardware systems complement its own electrical distribution capabilities. The deal follows Lear’s August acquisition of Autonet Mobile Inc., a specialist in technology that connects in-vehicle systems with cloud-based applications.
Arada, which has 45 employees, has developed V2X software and hardware systems based on 5.9 GHz dedicated short range communications and other wireless protocols, including GPS. The company’s V2X products include its LocoMate series of roadside units for infrastructure and on-board units for vehicles.
