Japan Consortium to Build Hydrogen Stations

Eleven companies have formed Japan H2 Mobility LLC (JHyM) to fund, build and operate 80 hydrogen stations for fuel cell vehicles in Japan.
The group, which includes Honda, Nissan and Toyota, will officially launch next month and plans to complete the installations by the fiscal year starting in April 2021.
The other charter members are JXTG Nippon Oil & Energy, Idemitsu Kosan, Iwatani, Tokyo Gas, Toho Gas, Air Liquide Japan, Toyota Tsusho and the Development Bank of Japan.
JHyM will work under the guidance of the Japanese Central Government’s Ministerial Council on Renewable Energy, Hydrogen and Related Issues. The group will support other initiatives, including the Council for a Strategy for Hydrogen and Fuel Cells that aims to open as many as 160 hydrogen stations in fiscal year 2020. These stations can support as many as 40,000 fuel cell vehicles, according to government estimates.
