Isuzu Motors Ltd. denies a Nikkei report that it will pull out of its 13-year-old diesel-making venture with General Motors Co. in Poland.

The venture has supplied diesels for GM's troubled Opel unit since 1999, most recently for the Astra sedan, Corsa supermini and Meriva minivan. The Nikkei, which cites no sources, says Isuzu also wants to cut its workforce by 10% in Europe and halt development work on new engines because of the weak car market there.

Reuters says Isuzu denies the cutbacks in Europe or that it wants to abandon its venture with GM. The Japanese company declines comment about shelving work on a new diesel for Opel.
