Hyundai Motor Co. delivered 50 of its ix35 fuel cell vehicles last month in Europe. This pushes its total above 250 units—more than all other manufacturers combined—since the company launched a mass-production version of the vehicle there earlier this year.
Based on the compact ix35 crossover/SUV, the fuel cell variant features a 100-kW electric motor and a 10,000-psi hydrogen fuel tank. It has a top speed of 100 mph and a driving range of about 370 miles.
Hyundai’s ix35 fuel cell vehicle currently is available in 11 European countries. Distribution will expand to Spain and Switzerland later this year. The carmaker is in the process of training and equipping its dealerships across Europe to service and repair the vehicles. It aims to sell 10,000 fuel cell vehicles annually worldwide in coming years.
