Hyundai Mobis Ramps Up Fuel Cell Module Production
Hyundai Mobis Co. has built a 70 billion-won ($62 million) factory in South Korea to mass produce hydrogen fuel-cell components, The Nikkei reports.
Hyundai Mobis Co. has built a 70 billion-won ($62 million) factory in South Korea to mass produce hydrogen fuel-cell components, The Nikkei reports.
The company claims the plant is the world first with an integrated system to mass-produce key parts of a fuel-cell propulsion system. The company aims to make electric motors, fuel cell stacks and electronic control modules in the same facility.
The factory will have capacity to build components and modules for for 3,000 fuel cell vehicles per year, initially for parent Hyundai Motor Group, according to The Nikkei. The newspaper says the supplier hopes eventually to sell to other carmakers.
