Honda Motor Co. says it will invest $52 million to prepare its Greensburg, Ind., assembly plant to make CR-V small crossovers beginning in early 2017.
The factory will join Honda facilities in Ohio and Ontario that already make the CR-V, which was America’s most popular crossover in 2015. Last year Honda sold 345,600 CR-Vs in the U.S., according to Autodata Corp.
The company said in January it would add CR-V capacity at Greensburg but didn’t indicate the investment required to do so. Honda says the plant will continue to produce Civic small sedans.
