Honda Motor Co. plans to erect a 1 billion-real ($435 million) assembly facility in Brazil that would begin making compact cars in 2015, Estado de Sao Paulo reports.
The newspaper, which cites unidentified sources, says the factory will be erected in Itirapina, about 120 miles northwest of Sao Paulo.
The plant would be Honda's second in Brazil. Honda's existing factory in Sumare, which makes the City, Civic and Fit small cars, has annual capacity of 120,000 vehicles.
