Honda Motor Co. has become the tenth company to earn a permit to test autonomous vehicles on public streets in California, Reuters reports.
Like many carmakers, Honda plans to begin offering a range of driver assist and semi-autonomous driving systems in its Acura and Honda brand vehicles. The company has been testing such technologies at a former naval base in Concord, Calif.
The 2,100-acre facility, called the GoMentum Station, also is being used by Mercedes-Benz. Reports last month said Apple Inc. had expressed interest in using the unusually secure test site too.
