Traverse City, Mich.-based Hagerty Group LLC has acquired Classics&Exotics, which the company says is the only peer-to-peer car-sharing service for classic vehicles in the U.S.
Hagerty is renaming the business, which was launched in 2014, as DriveShare. Classics&Exotics founder Peter Zawadzki has joined Hagerty as director of DriveShare.
Members list their vehicles on DriveShare.com and set their own fee, mileage, availability and deposit requirements. They also can review and approve renters and make arrangements for a vehicle’s delivery and return.
DriveShare vehicles come with 24-hour roadside assistance at no additional cost. The service is tailored to classic cars, including flatbed towing with soft straps and specially trained dispatch operators.
Hagerty claims to be the world's largest specialty insurance provider for classic vehicles. The company also created a software tool to help buyers and sellers assess a vehicle’s value.
