Google Inc. is looking for engineers and manufacturing experts for its Google X self-driving car project, Reuters reports.
Google has said it wants to partner with a vehicle manufacturer rather than make cars itself. But the talent it’s looking for suggests the company is ready to go well beyond software in its quest to put automatic vehicles on the road.
Reuters notes that the project’s Web site currently describes 36 jobs involving such areas as factory design and automation, in-vehicle displays, motion control, robotics, sensors, supply chain management, workplace services and more.
