GM Plans $877 Upgrade to Its Oldest Assembly Plant
General Motors Co. says it will spend $877 million to upgrade its 68-year-old assembly plant in Flint, Mich.
General Motors Co. says it will spend $877 million to upgrade its 68-year-old assembly plant in Flint, Mich.
Flint Assembly GM's oldest in North America will receive a new 883,000 sq-ft body shop and an upgraded paint system. The company plans to begin construction early next year and complete the project in 2018.
The facility makes fullsize Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks. The upgrade is the final project in the $5.4 billion investment program GM announced in April.
