General Motors Co. and Honda Motor Co. have joined a group of companies that are backing a statement of principles they believe should guide the deployment of electrified transportation.
The so-called Transportation Electrification Accord is not a lobbying group or action coalition. Its signatories merely agree to align their electrification efforts with the principles detailed in the accord.
Those principles start with the view that there is a good business and societal case for electrification. It says development work on EVs should extend beyond passenger vehicles to trucks, buses and off-road vehicles.
Signatories agree to support electrified transportation at the state and local level, promote charging stations along main roads and highways and allow pubic and investor-owned utilities to help build charging networks. The accord also seeks an open architecture, standards and protocols to create the most appealing and easy-to-use EV infrastructure for consumers.
Details about the accord and a list of its signatories to date can be viewed HERE.
