General Motors Co. is considering erecting another assembly plant in China beyond the two facilities already planned, says Bob Socia, president of GM China.
General Motors Co. is considering erecting another assembly plant in China beyond the two facilities already planned, says Bob Socia, president of GM China.
Socia tells reporters at the Detroit auto show that the company will need additional capacity in China despite slowing growth in the country's auto market. He predicts China's auto sales could rise to 21 million vehicles this year from 19.3 million in 2012.
GM and its joint ventures opened two Chinese factories last year, broke ground for another in Wuhan and announced plans for one more in Chongqing.
