General Motors Co. plans to furlough 510 workers at two Michigan assembly plants as it trims production of four slow-selling models.
GM will eliminate one shift at its Cadillac ATS and CTS luxury sedan plant in Lansing, idling 350 workers. It also will cut 160 workers at its facility in Lake Orion, which makes the Buick Verano and Chevrolet Sonic small cars. Both reductions will occur in January.
Dealer inventories of all four models are at least 50% greater than normal, according to Autodata Corp.
