General Motors Co.’s newly acquired Cruise Automation unit is testing autonomous driving technologies on the streets of Scottsdale, Ariz.
The three-year-old startup began evaluating its robotic driving software controls in Chevrolet Bolt electric cars there about two weeks ago, the Detroit Free Press reports. The unit has been conducting similar tests in San Francisco since May, when GM bought Cruise Automation for $581 million in cash and stock.
GM tells the Free Press it may expand the tests to other undisclosed cities. The company has not indicated how many autonomous cars are in the program.
