German Startup to License VW’s EV Platform

Volkswagen AG has agreed to license its MEB (modular electric toolkit) electrified vehicle platform to e.GO Mobile AG.
In addition to its own models, e.Go says it could assemble vehicles under contract for VW. The startup has capacity to build 30,000 vehicles per year on three shifts at its facility in Aachen, Germany.
VW plans to use the MEB platform (pictured) across its brands to carry 27 EV models by 2023. The rollout will start late this year with the ID compact hatchback in Europe.
Founded in 2015, e.Go plans to begin building its own all-electric city car, the e.Go Life, later this year. The company also has a joint venture with ZF Friedrichshafen AG that aims to launch automated electric shuttle vans next year in France.
Prior to starting e.Go, Schuh co-founded StreetScooter GmbH, which makes electric delivery vans under new owner Deutsche Post DHL Group.
