Leaked studio-quality photos of Fisker Automotive Inc.'s new four-door sedan indicate the car, code named Nina, will be called the Atlantic.
The extended range hybrid will be publicly unveiled on Tuesday ahead of the New York auto show. Fisker hopes to begin building the $39,000 car at its assembly plant in Wilmington, Del., later this year.
The highly styled Atlantic features a low hood, a grille similar to the one on Fisker's $107,900 Karma sedan and an all-glass roof supported inside by a large X-shaped strut.
Fisker has revealed no details about the Atlantic's powertrain, which is expected to be less powerful than the Karma's. That system includes two rear-mounted electric motors that generate a combined 403 hp and 981 lb-ft of torque. The motors are powered by a 20-kWh lithium ion battery. A turbocharged, 260-hp gasoline engine helps recharge the battery and accelerate the Karma from zero to 60 mph in about 5.9 seconds.
