Doug Betts, who quit as the head of global quality for Fiat Chrysler Automobile NV last October, joined Apple Inc. this month, according to his LinkedIn profile. He lists his new job as "operations."
Betts held posts at Nissan, Toyota, Michelin and General Motors before joining Chrysler in 2007. He left FCA the day after four of the company's North American brands (Dodge, Ram, Jeep and Fiat), ranked at the bottom of Consumer Reports' 2014 reliability survey.
Betts' arrival at Apple adds more fuel to speculation the Cupertino, Calif., company is preparing to produce its own electric car. Sources told Bloomberg News in February the company might introduce an EV as early as 2020.
