Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV is reading tests of two schemes to promote Jeep sales: peer-to-peer car sharing and a multi-model subscription service.

The car-sharing plan aims to sign up Jeep owners who are willing to rent their vehicles to others through Turo Inc., a San Francisco-based startup. The subscription offer allows customers to pay a flat fee for three months that enables them to swap their Jeeps for other FCA models, such as a Dodge Challenger sport coupe or Ram pickup truck.

Tim Kuniskis, who heads the Jeep brand in North America, tells Bloomberg News the idea with both services is to give non-Jeep owners a chance to road-test and decide whether they want to buy a Jeep for themselves.

Both three-month tests will begin next week in Boston and be limited to the first 100 customers who sign up.
