Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV has appointed two new leaders of its global quality and purchasing activities and made several new assignments in each area. The changes are effective immediately.

The moves come as FCA attempts to bolster its reputation for lackluster product quality and poor supplier relations.

Scott Thiele, former vice president of global product finance, is now FCA’s global head of purchasing. He also replaces Tom Finelli, former leader of North American purchasing. Finelli is moving to head purchasing for FCA’s Comau Inc. manufacturing automation unit.

FCA also appointed Scott Garberding, its former global chief purchasing officer, to be its global and North American head of quality. He succeeds Mark Chernoby in the former role and Matt Liddane in the latter.

Liddane’s new assignment is quality chief for FCA’s Magneti Marelli parts unit. Chernoby continues as chief operating officer for product development and head of portfolio management.

FCA says Thiele will join Garberding and Chernoby on its group executive council, the company’s highest management body.
