Faraday Future Inc., the California-based electric car startup, says it intends to erect a $1 billion EV assembly plant in North Las Vegas, Nev.
The company expects to compete with Tesla Motors Inc. in the luxury EV market when it introduces its first car in 2017. The startup plans to unveil the vehicle in concept form in January during the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
Nevada’s governor and the state Office of Economic Development are scheduled to hold a press conference Thursday morning to discuss the project.
Nevada also is home to the $5 billion EV battery plant Tesla aims to open in 2017. The Tesla facility will receive more than $1 billion in tax breaks from the state.
