To help spur the development of autonomous vehicles, Europe is staging a series of track days for independent designers, programmers and hobbyists to safely test their creations.
The first event, sponsored by the government-backed Innovate U.K. program, is scheduled in November at Britain’s Bruntingthorpe Proving Grounds. Similar programs are planned next year at other tracks in Britain, Austria and France.
The programs will be geared to young engineers, entrepreneurs and other innovators who otherwise might not have access to controlled test areas.
