The Carlyle Group has finalized its acquisition of DuPont Co.'s automotive paint and coatings unit for $4.9 billion in cash and the assumption of debt.

The Carlyle Group has finalized its acquisition of DuPont Co.'s automotive paint and coatings unit for $4.9 billion in cash and the assumption of debt.

DuPont and the Washington, D.C.-based private equity announced the planned deal in August.

DuPont predicts its remaining units will sell more than $3 billion of advanced materials per year to the auto industry.
