Jaguar Ltd. is developing a diesel-electric crossover vehicle that it plans to launch around 2020, Autocar reports.
The U.K. enthusiast publication, which doesn’t cite its sources, says the vehicle will share a platform with the XE sedan and F-Pace crossover. It suggests the new model could be called the J-Pace. Jaguar declined to comment.
Based on recent spy photos, Autocar says the new hybrid will have an extended wheelbase and get unique styling. The hybrid system’s diesel is expected to be a 2.0-liter unit.
Previous reports indicate Jaguar also is developing several other hybrid and all-electric models. A compact electric crossover, possibly called the E-Pace, is expected to bow next year. This will be followed by an electric sedan and other unspecified hybrid models, according to Autocar.
