Consumer Reports has anointed the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel the best fullsize pickup truck on the U.S. market, outscoring rivals from Ford, General Motors, Nissan and Toyota.

CR praises the $36,500 truck's quiet passenger compartment and stellar federal fuel economy ratings: 20 mpg city/27 mpg highway. The truck's gasoline-powered rivals offer highway fuel economy in the low 20s.

The Ram 1500 EcoDiesel is powered by a 3.0-liter V-6 diesel that delivers 240 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque through an 8-speed automatic transmission.
