The partners say they will use each other’s expertise in vehicle components and internet technology to develop technologies and new business models that employ artificial intelligence to create a “new ecosystem of intelligent mobility.”
Separately, Conti has reached a strategic agreement with NIO, a Chinese electric-car startup, to help develop vehicle platforms for the Shanghai-based company. The partners have collaborated since NIO was launched in 2014.
NIO is a participant in the Formula-e electric race car series. Conti will supply the company with such components as tires and an air suspension system for its first mass-produced car, the ES8, that is due in 2018.
