Doug Betts, the top quality executive for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV, quit today.
Replacing him are Mark Chernoby, who now leads quality efforts for FCA globally, and Matthew Liddane, who will head Chrysler quality in North America.
Chernoby also will continue to serve as head of product development for FCA. Liddane previously was Chrysler's vice president of systems and components.
Betts joined Chrysler in 2007 after holding quality control jobs at Nissan, Toyota, Michelin and General Motors. He was named Chrysler's top quality executive in 2009 and added the same title for Fiat SpA in 2011.
But Betts had limited impact on the lackluster quality ratings of both companies. His departure comes one day after four of FCA's North American brands Dodge, Ram, Jeep and Fiat landed at the bottom of Consumer Reports' reliability survey for 2014.
The company's highest-rated brand, Chrysler, ranked 22nd out of 28. Toyota led the influential ratings for the eighth consecutive year.
