A new partnership between Lyft Inc. and National Railroad Passenger Corp. (known as Amtrak, short for America’s track) will enable people to use the rail service’s customer app to access Lyft’s ride-hailing service.
The partnership will help users coordinate first-mile/last-mile travel to and from an Amtrak station, the partners note. Lyft operates in more than 360 cities across the U.S., covering 80% of the country’s population and 97% of Amtrak riders.
New Lyft users accessing the app through Amtrak will receive $5 off each of their first four rides by inputting a special promo code.
