Cadillac Expands Vehicle Booking Business

General Motors Co.’s Cadillac unit is extending the vehicle subscription service it launched in New York earlier this year to Los Angeles and Dallas.
Dubbed The Book by Cadillac, the plan gives subscribers on-demand access to several of the luxury brand’s vehicles for a flat fee of $1,800 per month—up $300 from the rate at launch. The cost includes registration, taxes, insurance, maintenance and vehicle detailing.
Customers use a smartphone app to request a vehicle as many as 18 times per year. Cars are delivered and exchanged to specified locations via a concierge service. The monthly fee covers registration, insurance and vehicle detailing. Subscriptions will be sold month to month, and customers can cancel at any time.
Cadillac says more than 8,000 people have expressed interest in the program since it debuted in March. About 90% those interested have not previously owned a Cadillac.
The carmaker says "several hundred" Cadillacs are now available through the program. The model mix includes the ATS-V and CTS-V performance cars, top-end CT6 and its plug-in hybrid variant, XT5 crossover vehicle and Escalade full-size SUV. The CTS is available with Cadillac’s Super Cruise semiautonomous driving system.
Subscribers now are limited to a maximum 2,000 miles per month. There was no mileage limitation initially.
