Robert Bosch GmbH is close to settling claims in the U.S. that it helped Volkswagen AG to develop software used by the carmaker’s diesel engines to cheat on emission tests, a source tells Reuters.
The deal, reportedly worth more than $300 million, would resolve a lawsuit filed last year by VW customers who claims Bosch was a “knowing and active” participant in the scheme.
Bosch, which previously described the plaintiffs’ claims as “wild and unfounded,” declined to comment. Prosecutors tell Reuters they are continuing to investigate the company to determine its possible role in the cheating scandal.
