BMW AG and Daimler AG have finalized a long-term agreement to collaborate on driver-assist and Level 4 automated driving systems.
The partners say development work will be shared by a combined 1,200 technicians in Sindelfingen and Unterschleissheim, Germany. The results of their work are to be implemented independently by each company.
BMW and Daimler expect to begin implementing the technologies they develop in passenger cars in 2024. The two carmakers agreed in February to launch a €1 billion ($1.1 billion) joint venture called Jurbey that combines their ride-hailing, parking and electric-car-charging services.
