CEO Rupert Stadler confirms that Audi AG will begin production of its first all-electric sedan, the e-tron GT, in 2020. Audi will build the four-door, which will share much of its underpinnings with Porsche’s upcoming Mission E electric sedan, at its facility in Boelinger Hoefe, Germany. That facility currently makes Audi’s R8 supercar, which is expected to be dropped at the end of its current product cycle.
Audi revealed a teaser photo of the car today and is expected to unveiled the vehicle in concept form at the Paris auto show in September.
Separately, Stadler says Audi’s all-electric e-tron SUV will be priced in Germany at about €80,000 ($98,700). That model will debut in production form this summer and be built in Belgium. Audi has said it will market about 20 hybrid or all-electric models by 2025.
