Starting next month, only all-electric vehicles will be allowed to be added to ride-hailing fleets in Shenzhen.

The Chinese mega-city currently has about 58,000 registered ride-hailing vehicles. Ten companies have already launched services in the city, and another seven have been approved for operation.

The new rules also include more stringent background testing for drivers. In addition, the process for riders to make complaints has been streamlined.

Companies must post their pricing policies in each vehicle, and their apps must show how many vehicles are available for rides within a 3-km (2-mile) radius of a pickup point.
