The VUHL 05 is the creation of two designers, two brothers, Guillermo and Iker Echeverria, whose father, Guillermo Sr., was a professional driver for 30 years.

VUHL stands for “Vehicles of Ultrahigh Performance and Lightweight,” and the VUHL 05 is certainly that, as it has a curb weight of just 725 kg (1,598 lb.), thanks to a clever approach to creating the monocoque, which tips the scales at just 78 kg (172 lb.).

There is a three-section bonded tub made with aluminum extrusions and aluminum honeycomb. There is a chrome-moly steel subframe for the engine and rear suspension; it is bolted to the passenger cell. Then there is a three-stage forward crash structure and double-layer sidewalls.

The VUHL 05 is powered by a 285-hp Ford EcoBoost engine. The car is capable of going from 0 to 100 kph (62 mph) in 3.7 seconds and has a top speed of 245 kph (152 mph).

And it looks good, too.

Said Iker Echeverria, “Our background means the VUHL 05 has been developed by enthusiasts for enthusiasts. We were determined to create a highly intuitive machine that was both stirringly fast and immense fun to drive-a car we ourselves would want to own.”
