VW to Hire Ex-FBI Chief to Aid in U.S. Diesel Cheating Probes?
Volkswagen AG plans to hire Louis Freeh, a former director of the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation, to help it deal with American investigations into the company’s diesel emission cheating, according to today’s Sueddeutsche Zietung.

Volkswagen AG plans to hire Louis Freeh, a former director of the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation, to help it deal with American investigations into the company’s diesel emission cheating, according to today’s Sueddeutsche Zietung.
The newspaper says a VW supervisory board committee is scheduled later today to discuss Freeh’s role. The company describes the report as speculation.
VW faces multiple challenges from federal and state regulators, the U.S. Dept. of Justice and numerous customer lawsuits about 580,000 diesel-powered vehicles equipped to evade U.S. emission standards.
