VW May Extend Diesel Buyback Plan in Germany
Volkswagen AG is pondering whether to extend a program in Germany that encourages owners of older diesels to trade in their vehicles on a new car.
Volkswagen AG is pondering whether to extend a program in Germany that encourages owners of older diesels to trade in their vehicles on a new car.
Last August VW began offering such owners rebates worth as much as €10,000 ($12,300). The scheme has applied to the company’s Audi, Porsche, Skoda and VW brands in Germany.
The original plan was to expire at the end of 2017 but was extended through March. A source tells Automotive News Europe that a decision on a further continuation could come as soon as March 15. The online newspaper notes that Daimler has already extended its own diesel buyback program through June.
