As expected, Volkswagen AG has filed a complaint against German prosecutors who two weeks ago raided the law offices of Jones Day, the firm VW hired to investigate the carmaker’s diesel emission cheating scandal.

VW described the search at the time as “unacceptable in every way.” Sources tell Reuters that the complaint in a Munich court asks that the city’s prosecutors be prevented from retaining and assessing the material they seized.

Prosecutors seek to determine who at VW knew about the cheating, which began eight years ago. VW has not released details about the Jones Day investigation except for a summary to the U.S. Dept. of Justice.
