Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co.'s Volvo Cars unit says it will slow the line speed at its assembly plant in Ghent, Belgium 8% next year.
The company adds that it won't renew the contracts of 300 temporary employees at the facility.
The reduction in output is a response to slowing European demand for Volvo vehicles. The Ghent factory makes the C30 and V40 small hatchbacks, S60 sedan and XC60 crossover vehicle.
The company said earlier this month it would idle its main assembly plant in Torslanda, Sweden, next week. That facility has been operating at reduced line speed since Oct. 1.
