The news service quotes by name leaders of the ACV and ABVV unions, which represent more than 4,000 Ford workers in Genk.
The union officials say they met with Jeff Woods, Ford of Europe manufacturing chief, after receiving word about the Mondeo from Ford headquarters in Dearborn, Mich. Labor leaders are eager to learn about the company's investment plans and what cost-saving labor measures it might seek.
Analysts had opined that Ford's restructuring in Europe might involve closing a factory, possibly in Genk.
