Uber Technologies Inc. has agreed to comply with California licensing rules about testing autonomous vehicles on public roads.
Last year Uber contended that didn’t need a special California permit because its vehicles have a driver behind the wheel even when in autonomous mode. It began unlicensed testing of a 16-car fleet in San Francisco in December.
But the state revoked the registrations for Uber’s test fleet a week later. Uber has been testing the fleet in Arizona, which doesn’t require special permits. The company didn’t say when it plans to resume tests in California.
